Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Certificate of Destruction?

A Certificate of Destruction (CoD) is a formal document that records the secure disposal of your devices. It includes: device description, serial number, destruction method used, date of destruction, and the technician who performed the work. The CoD is a legal record that demonstrates your organisation fulfilled its data disposal obligations under the Privacy Act and applicable industry regulations.

Is your process NIST 800-88 compliant?

Yes. All Electronic Waste Victoria destruction services follow NIST Special Publication 800-88 (Guidelines for Media Sanitisation). This covers both data wiping (verified overwrite) and physical destruction for devices where wiping is not appropriate. We apply the correct method based on device type, media classification, and your compliance requirements.

What happens to the devices after destruction?

After data destruction is complete, devices are processed for responsible recycling in accordance with Australian e-waste regulations. Recoverable components and materials are directed to certified recycling streams. Nothing is exported or landfilled. If your organisation requires documentation of the downstream recycling pathway, this is available on request.

How quickly do I receive my Certificate of Destruction?

Certificates are issued within one business day of destruction being completed. For Standard and Witnessed engagements, certificates are delivered electronically to your nominated contact. For On-Site engagements, a preliminary certificate can be provided on the day, with the formal certificate issued within 24 hours.

What types of devices do you accept?

We process laptops, desktops, servers, hard drives (HDD and SSD), USB drives, mobile phones, tablets, and other storage-bearing electronic equipment. If you have a device type not listed here, contact us and we will confirm whether it can be included in your engagement.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Volume pricing is available for enterprise clients and organisations with recurring destruction requirements. Contact our team to discuss an annual service agreement or scheduled destruction programme.
